What do we mean by accessibility? This website fulfils the requirements as set out by the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) For more information, visit: www.w3.org/WAI/ Does the site Validate? Yes, the site validates both in its HTML and its CSS:Use the search box You will find a grey box inviting you to 'search JDC' at the top right hand corner of the website. Using the site search is often the quickest route to the information you are looking for. To use the site search, type one or two key words relating to the information you are looking for into the search box and then click the 'go' button. This will take you to a list of pages and documents that are the most closely related to the words you have supplied.
The text is too small for me to read - how can I change it? This site has a font-changing function built in - These functions are in the top right, under the search box.
Alternatively, you can use your browser to set various font sizes:
- In Mozilla / Firefox: click on View > Text size (or use Ctrl + to increase size, Ctrl - to decrease size)
- In Internet Explorer: click on View > Text size
Can I have a non-graphical version of the site? Yes - this is simply done by using the site's Text-Only function:

How do I change my screen settings? This site looks best with a screen resolution (the size of what is shown) of 800 x 600. To change this on a PC running Windows operating systems, go to Start > Settings > Control panel > Display > Settings and change the desktop area by using the sliding bar. On an Apple Macintosh, you can use the Monitor & sound control panel to change the resolution.

What are PDFs and how do I read them? PDF stands for Portable Document file. It's an established way of publishing documents on the web and retaining their original printed look. We've used PDFs on the site for application forms for certain services for you to print off and return to us by mail. You need a plug-in called Adobe Acrobat to read these files. This is available to download free of charge at www.adobe.com.
How can I view a Word file if I don't have Microsoft Word software? There are a number of software packages you can download to view Word files. Open Office is a free open-source package and is available for download at: http://download.openoffice.org/index.html
My browser is out of date - how can I get a new one? This site is designed to be viewed across various versions of various browsers (such as Mozilla, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera etc) The latest versions of these brwsers can be downloaded free of charge from their web sites, and it is recommended that you do have the latest versions as they will be less susceptible to viruses: Mozilla:
